UKHarvest have been lucky enough to work with Barfoots since we launched as a charity.
Barfoots is a local family business that’s grown from humble farming beginnings to a global food business. Founder Peter Barfoot’s mantra “look after the land like you want to farm forever” is at the heart of everything they do. In fact Peter recently received a CBE for Services to Sustainable Farming.
Farming premium vegetables such as sweetcorn, courgettes, asparagus and Tenderstem, and supplying on a national scale, reducing waste is core to their sustainability values.
UKHarvest work closely with Barfoots to rescue produce from cancelled orders, outsize vegetables which may have been rejected through quality control for mainstream supermarkets but are so gratefully received by our recipients particularly soup kitchens.
