Slow Food

Slow Food is a global, grassroots organisation, founded in 1989 to raise awareness of how the food choices we make affect the world around us. Yvonne our charity’s founder is the Co-Chair of Slow Food Sussex and their values align with those of UKHarvest.

The principles that Slow Food wish to promote are as follows:

  • GOOD: quality, flavoursome and healthy food
  • CLEAN: production that does not harm the environment
  • FAIR: accessible prices for consumers and fair conditions and pay for producers

We worked with Slow Food Sussex to launch Melissa Hemsley’s latest cookbook at an event hosted by Susannah Day at Goodwood. This open forum raised many questions about the need to embrace seasonal produce and was a chance for local food producers to network. We look forward to collaborating with Slow Food Sussex on future events.
