Community Food Hubs
Affordable food, support and advice open to all. No referral needed.
Get the support you need whilst helping to fight food waste at our Community Food Hubs. Access affordable food, learn low-cost cooking, and find support on a range of social issues. Just bring a bag and a suggested donation of £5*. No one will be turned away.
*We have a suggested donation of £5 at our Community Food Hubs in the Chichester district, and £3.50 at our wider West Sussex venues. This is thanks to funding from WSCC Waste Recycling Team who have offset the costs it takes to rescue surplus food. The West Sussex locations, highlighted in blue below, take place monthly and more information on these can be found by clicking here.
How it works
Bring a shopping bag and fill it from a selection of mixed groceries and rescued produce for a suggested donation of £5, helping you to save your money for other essentials. The food you choose from the community food hub will not only help you but because the food is rescued it is good for the planet too.
Our friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you make the most of your weekly shop by sharing recipes, healthy options, cookery skills, and tips to reduce your household food waste. We will host regular cooking demonstrations and include our favourite food-saving tips.
We work closely with local organisations, charities and community groups and will help connect you to the long-term support you might require. We will have information available on local support groups and often invite these groups in so you can meet them whilst you wait.
Who is it for?
We encourage anyone who is on a tight budget, for any reason, to come along and get the support you need. You do not need a referral, no one will be turned away, and you are not limited on the amount of times you can come.
Where can I find money-saving, waste-preventing cookery courses and tips?
Our NourishEd page is designed to help you make the most of your food through engaging sessions that will improve your cookery skills, help you make healthy choices, and fight food waste in the home, so you can eat well for less and reduce your environmental impact. From online videos to live cook-alongs, you'll learn small, lasting and effective changes to the way you plan, shop and cook your meals, suitable for any budget.
