Hyde Charitable Trust donate £21,000 towards UKHarvest’s Community Food Hub operation
Continuing the fantastic collaboration between Hyde Housing and UKHarvest, we are thrilled to announce that Hyde Charitable Trust, the arm of Hyde Housing that supports the Hyde Foundation, have awarded UKHarvest £21,000 towards the Community Food Hub operation.
Sarah Owen, Hyde’s Projects and Partnerships Manager said: “We’re delighted to be able to support UKHarvest. This funding will go towards the Community Food Hubs which run across Chichester – many of their food hubs are in our communities. Food security is an issue for many families, and the support given by UKHarvest via its food repurposing and redistribution work not only goes a long way towards supporting our customers and other families but helps the planet too.”
Yvonne Thomson, CEO at UKHarvest has worked closely with Hyde through UKHarvest and shared that "Hyde Housing have supported UKHarvest in so many areas of our operations. We've welcomed members of the team to visit our Community Food Hubs, our warehouse and take part in our Cooking for a Cause corporate days to experience firsthand what we do on a daily basis to support communities across the South of England. Through shared community days, community initiatives like 'Shop, Chop and Chat' and even supporting UKHarvest with our first freezer van, the relationship has gone from strength to strength. This generous grant is received with such gratitude, and we can't wait to see what more we can do with Hyde in the coming months, and years!"
The Community Food Hubs are a vital part of UKHarvest’s operation, enabling the rescued food to reach the homes of those in need, as well as those who are consciously aware of the negative impact food waste has on our environment. To know that national organisations such as Hyde Housing are continuing to financially support these operations gives us the opportunity to make fresh healthy food available to all, without discrimination or means testing.
Thank you so much to Sarah Owen, projects and partners manager at Hyde Charitable Trust, for working so closely with our team to ensure that we can continue rescuing surplus food and enabling it to reach households within our community.
