New ways to donate to UKHarvest
Our connection with growers and farmers, food producers and distributors, business and organisations as well as LA and HAs has grown enormously in recent months. Businesses and organisations are coming up with ingenious ways to raise funds, develop processes, enable operations and make sure the warehouse is full to the brim with incredible produce ready for redistribution to those that need it most!
Donate through the sale of your product or services
Collaborating with innovative and ethical brands such as Black Mamba, who donate 10p from each unit of their product they sell, The Barn in Chichester who donate 15% of their takings and Pollen & Grace who donated profits from their Doctor’s Kitchen range to put funds towards our education programme have had an enormously positive impact on our operation and programmes.
Cook for Good
UKHarvest have recently launched a really exciting offer. Have you and your team dreamed of cooking together? Does your ideal day out involve food, fun and a lot of laughter? If so, UKHarvest are offering corporations and businesses the chance to use their training kitchen and learn how to cook with rescued food, how to store and extend the life of regular ingredients and how to reduce food waste in the home, all while enjoying an inspiring day with your colleagues. Visit our website to find out more.
Pre-farm Gate Food Donations
One of the most groundbreaking donations we’ve received recently is the donation of peppers from a local producer. Unlike other food donations, we receive peppers that have been harvested but are not suitable for sale, so do not enter the processing system. UKHarvest collect these peppers, process them at the warehouse sending those that are not suitable for our redistribution channels to create natural energy and fertilisers but ensuring that the produce that can be eaten is sent to our community food hubs, Grub Club, Nourish Hub and to our collaborating charities.
UKHarvest as your Charity of the Year
Earlier this year housing association A2 Dominion chose UKHarvest as their charity of the year. A2 will be working together with UKHarvest, arranging food drives, encouraging sponsored events and looking at how we can support our community food hubs which many A2 residents rely on.
Fundraising Activity and Challenges
Fedcap who work to increase employability opportunities, health service and community projects. are hosting and taking part in a football match where all funds raised will be donated to UKHarvest.
Donating Essential Equipment
UKHarvest have been lucky enough to receive equipment including kitchen appliances from Grundig and apparatus from Dexam and a refrigerated van from Hyde.
Donating Your Services
The donation of services can be invaluable. Experts in areas that we are still developing and growing such as marketing and PR support received from Collaborate as part of our connection as their charity of the year.
As the need for fresh, healthy and nutritious food increases UKHarvest continue to connect with as many businesses and organisation as possible. Coming up with new and exciting ways to support UKHarvest and becoming engaged as a collaborator is an incredible way to develop your organisation. We welcome all ideas, no matter how off-the-wall they are.
