Frozen milk cubes
Did you know milk is up there with bread and potatoes as one of the most wasted foods? As a nation we waste 490 million pints of milk a year – that’s eighteen and half pints per household!
One way to stop milk going off before you get to use it, is to freeze it. There's just a few things you need to take into account:
1. Freeze milk before it has gone past its used by date.
2. Milk will expand when frozen - never freeze in a glass bottle because it will crack, freeze in ice cube trays or Tupperware.
3. Defrost in the fridge before using or, if you’re a caffeine fiend, pop a frozen milk cube into your tea, coffee or hot chocolate and it will defrost rapidly.
